participated and won many prizes.

LECTURE ON “AN ENTREPRENEUR’S TALE OF A PERFORMER”(18-10-2025)
The Department of Dance, Prem Chand Markanda S.D. College for Women, Jalandhar, organized a Guest Lecture titled “An Entrepreneur’s Tale of a Performer” under the aegis of the Institution’s Innovation Council (IIC). The lecture was organized to inspire students to explore the entrepreneurial dimensions of performing arts and to understand how artistic passion can be transformed into sustainable professional careers. The resource person for the lecture was Dr. Ranjana Chabbra, an Associate Professor from Apeejay College, Jalandhar, a distinguished performer and academician, who shared her rich journey as a performer-entrepreneur. She elaborated on the challenges and opportunities faced by artists while building their professional identity in the competitive cultural and creative industries. She emphasized the importance of discipline, continuous practice, innovation, and adaptability in sustaining a career in the performing arts.
ZONAL
YOUTH FESTIVAL
In the category of the solo classical dance Ms. Surbhi Bhatia of B.A. 5th sem performed “Kathak ” on 27th October 2025. She got 2nd position in Zonal youth festival. Conducted by GNDU.
INTER
ZONAL YOUTH FESTIVAL
In the
category of Inter Zonal youth festival Ms. Surbhi Bhatia got 2rd
position. This event was organised by GNDU on 11th November 2025.
INTER
UNIVERSITY ZONAL YOUTH FESTIVAL
Student of dance department MS. SURBHI performed kathak recital on 02-12-2025 at G.N.D.U.
ALUMNI
A mesmerising function set for the aluminies of college on 26-12-2025.our best classical performer performed on ganesh Vandana. The item was much liked abd applaused by the alumni and principal mam.
SPORTS
DAY
A gala show
of "Sports Day" is celebrated on 30-01-2026. Students of various
departments participated in different types of games. Teachers also took part
in different games. Students of the college performed "Bhangra" on
the show. This item is applauded and appreciated by the management, Principal
Ma'am, and other staff members.
FETE A
COLOURFUL FESTIVAL
Fete a
colourful festival organized by the college on
6th February 2026 students of various streams participated
and presented dance Gujrati dance for the same. This performance of the
students was much appreciated by the management, principal mam and staff of PCM
SD College, Jalandhar.
HOLI
An eye catching item of radha krishan was performed by MS.SURBHI of B.A.SEM 6TH. She
presented a semi classical dance of raas which was much liked and applaused by
principal mam.
NATIONAL WEBINAR
A National Webinar on “Kathak as a professional Skill and its Articulation in present scenario” is conducted by the Department of Dance on 24th February 2026, in collaboration with IIC. The resource person Mr. Vishvadeep Chairman of Kala Chaitanya Society. New Delhi, Spoke about the fundamentals of Kathak with its roots and its future aspects in coming times. Principal mam Dr. Pooja Prashar and H.O.D. Dance Dr. Sugandhi Bhandari thanks him for a wonderful session. Students of various institutions asked questions regarding Kathak. It was a gala show liked by all.
INTERNATIONAL
WEBINAR
The department of dance of PCM S.D. College organized an International webinar on “Impact of Technology on kathak: Opportunities and challenges for entrepreneurship” in collaboration with IIC on 10th April 2026.Principal mam Dr. Pooja Prashar acknowledge the presence of the resource person Mr. Quincy Kendall Charles, kathak exponent from France, to spare his knowledge and experience about the topic. Students of the college enjoyed the International webinar very much.
FAREWELL
Farewell of
the college organized on 27th April 2026. The students of dance department gave
mesmerising performance on WESTERN DANCE which was much Applaused and
appreciated by the students. This item was very much appreciated by Principal
Dr. Pooja Prashar and staff of the college.
